"I don't really watch TV. I like three shows that I manage to follow, NCIS, Smallville and Hustle. I'm a push over for JAG reruns, too. Four people in particular that I follow the careers of: John Allen Nelson, Mark Harmon, Noah Wyle and David James Elliott. I believe they are honest, wonderful men. I think they'd be great in the screenplay for Unwritten. Now if I can just convince them."
My heroes wear combat boots- men and women- regardless of branch. It is because of them that we enjoy freedom.
If you know a Veteran or current service member- thank them. It is a difficult job and not only effects their life, but the lives they leave behind with their family. Be supportive in any way you can. We owe them a debt of more than gratitude.
I had an idea for a novel in 2000 or 2001. I can’t honestly remember the year. Finally, after years of procrastination, I sat down on October 3, 2006, and banged out the story that had been dancing circles in my head. I finished on December 8, 2006. Unwritten was finally a reality.
I make the odd book signing appearance dressed as Caroline Blaine, when requested, to bring the character to life from the pages of the book. It is not done in disrespect to anyone who has served or currently serves. It is merely a costume and I tell people as such. Even though it is a costume, I don't take it lightly. I wanted to serve my country, as my father did, but I have some medical problems that prevent me from doing so (Tom Clancy had the same quandry as I understand it).
I am a photographer and I dabble in graphic design and websites. If you need assistance with furthering a military support cause, or Veteran's organization, let me know. I'd be happy to help.
Did you know?
Monica's book, Unwritten, has some real life inspiration. "Many of the characters are real people. Some are actors, some are dear friends. Art is imitating life in that respect. And I respected these individuals and their talents so much that I wrote them into the story."
Monica included the car she dreams about owning one day- an Acura RL. In real life, just like Caroline, she drives a Jeep.
Caroline is actually another form of Carolyn, her real life mother's name.
Sonny is really the name of Monica's father. He's a Vietnam veteran, serving in the 101rst Airborne division.
